Culture Behind McNab’s Second Top 100 Workplace Win

McNab Group has been recognised among Australia’s Top 100 places to work for the second year running.
The construction and property group continues to attract talent from interstate and create career opportunities across its growing family of businesses.
Founded in Toowoomba in 1996, McNab is a privately owned construction and property group with businesses and investments spanning construction, property development, refurbishment and remediation, supply and hire, trades and labour, and modular construction.
Celebrating 30 years in 2026, that growth is giving people the opportunity to work across different locations, projects and industries, backed by a culture built on care.
McNab Group chief executive Kunjan Ganatra said the recognition reflected the effort people across the business put into looking after each other.
“Being recognised for a second year matters because maintaining a great workplace takes ongoing effort, particularly as a business grows,” Ganatra said.
“We want people to feel supported, trusted and comfortable speaking up. We want them to have opportunities to grow, and to know that the people around them care about how they’re going, both at work and outside it.
“Our promises are simple: genuinely care, make it easy and deliver certainty. They guide how we work with our customers and partners, and just as importantly, how we treat each other.”

More opportunities across the group
With offices in Brisbane, Toowoomba, the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Sydney, supported by international teams in the Philippines and Vietnam, McNab offers career opportunities across a broad range of locations and businesses.
The group is attracting people locally and increasingly from interstate who see the opportunity to build a long-term career.
Core delivery spans McNab Construction’s residential, commercial, industrial and community projects, McNab Property’s residential developments, and McNab Building Services’ refurbishment, remediation and building upgrades.
That’s backed by a broader stable of businesses and investments, including Supplyhaus (construction materials), Electrohire (equipment hire), Powershift (mobile battery and energy solutions), BridgeFab (structural steel fabrication), Trades and Labour, and ModnPods (modular construction).
Ganatra said the breadth of the group gave people more options as their skills, interests and circumstances changed.
“Someone might join us in construction and, over time, see an opportunity in property, one of our supply and hire businesses, or a role supporting the wider group,” he said.
“That creates room for people to learn, take on different challenges and build their careers with us. Having multiple locations also opens possibilities for people who are considering a move or want experience in a different market.
“For someone looking to relocate from interstate, there’s the lifestyle appeal, but the career opportunity needs to stack up too. We can offer exposure to a broad range of projects and businesses, with plenty happening in the years ahead.”

Investing in technology, without losing sight of people
Alongside its investment in people and businesses, McNab is investing in technology, artificial intelligence and modern methods of delivery to improve how the group develops, builds and supplies.
The focus is on practical improvements that help teams work more effectively, reduce repetitive administration and make better use of information, while exploring new approaches to construction and offsite manufacturing.
“Technology and AI will change how we work, and we want our people to have the tools and confidence to make the most of that,” Ganatra said.
“There’s a real opportunity to remove some of the time-consuming tasks that get in the way and give people more time to solve problems, work with customers and support their teams.
“As we invest in those capabilities, care has to remain central. Listening to people, helping them learn and bringing them along with change is a big part of getting it right.”
Ganatra said protecting the culture would remain a priority as McNab entered its next chapter.
“We’ve come a long way in 30 years, and there’s plenty of opportunity ahead. Our responsibility is to manage that growth well and keep looking after the people who make it possible,” he said.
“We want people joining McNab today to experience the same care and sense of belonging that helped build this business, with even more opportunity to shape its future.”
