Plans have been filed for a boutique residential project in Melbourne's Balaclava.
The three-storey, 34 apartment project is being proposed by South African-born Milton Levin’s company Martell.
The block proposed for the 1762sq m site, amalgamated from three lots, at 21-25 The Avenue will cost $8.5 million to develop and also includes 34 carparking spaces and 10 bicycle parking spaces in a basement level. The site is listed as owned by Aida Chehab.
The building will have a site coverage of around 1059 square metres. Plans by Aaron Weber Architects show 12 two-bedroom apartments on the ground and first floors and eight two-bedroom and two one-bedroom apartments on the second floor.
The site is near the Balaclava Station, Caulfield Park, Caulfield Grammar School and Mount Scopus Memorial College. Balaclava is 7km south-east of Melbourne's CBD.
According to Port Phillip Council records, the plans have been referred to Melbourne Water but are currently on display for public comment.
Milton Levin was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he ran the company Milton Dales, which built more than 200 luxury residential, mixed-use and commercial projects from 1979 to 2000 when he migrated to Australia.
Balaclava was listed as one of the suburbs where the median house values had dropped below the first home buyer scheme thresholds in 2021, making it possible for more people to buy homes in these suburbs.
