The 4.346 hectare landholding consists of the properties of 53-91 Dalton Drive located at the southern entrance to the Maroochydore Priority Development Area (PDA).
Scott Gardiner and Jerry O’Reilly of Savills
marketed the property with a national expression of interest campaign. It was sold on the behalf of the Queensland State Department of Health.
According to Mr Gardiner the 53-91 Dalton Drive property presented an extremely rare opportunity to acquire a large developable landholding within the Maroochydore PDA and as such attracted a very high level of interest nationally.
"The site created a lot of interest in the market due to its proximity to the Sunshine Motorway, Sunshine Plaza Regional Retail Complex, the Maroochydore Boulevard transport interchange, and the ongoing retail, commercial and residential developments in central Maroochydore," he said.
Among the new developments in the area include a new Bunnings Warehouse, and the proposal of an adjoining Officeworks. Savills also sold the 5, 571 square metre proposed Officeworks site this year for $2.646 million.
Interest in the property can further be attributed to the Queensland State Government’s identification of the Maroochydore City Centre as a Priority Development Area. It could potentially become the business, community, and employment hub of the Sunshine Coast.
The focus will be on providing a mix of residential, commercial, retail, civic, and community uses with the aim of developing a strong central business district for the area.
