Mark Bouris Backs Canberra with Geocon Partnership

TV’s The Mentor and executive chair of Yellow Brick Road, Mark Bouris AM, provides inspiration to Australians and business leaders every day.

An advocate for Canberra since the 1980s, Bouris' gaze has returned to Canberra's booming property market – announcing a partnership with Canberra's largest and Australia's fastest growing property developer, Geocon.

“Investors looking for opportunities that reduce their risk and are stable in terms of volatility should always include property in their portfolio,” Bouris said.

“The national capital of today provides a great mix and solid returns.”

In the 12 months to December 2017 the ACT population grew by 2.2 per cent and is expected to reach half a million people by 2033.

“The rapid population growth taking place, promising demographics of the people who live and work here, evolving employment opportunities and innovation in the public as well as the private sector,” Bouris said.

As Canberra’s economy continues to thrive, the city is shedding its image as the home of public servants, and has an increasingly vibrant food and wine scene.

“Canberra is growing up, and town planners along with switched-on developers are creating a city of the future here.”

“It’s definitely evolved to be one of the best positioned cities in this country. It’s not what it was when I was coming here in the 1980s. Canberra’s a place that is very liveable.

“If you just invest in big cities, you’re going to miss the opportunities that arise in smaller cities like Canberra. To me, it is a steady, strong high-yielding marketplace. And much more certain.”

Precinct-style living is on the rise in Canberra’s town centres and the CBD, driven by Geocon, offering home buyers and investors much-needed alternatives to the suburban quarter-acre block.

“Geocon is Canberra’s most successful high-rise apartment developer. They are the biggest supplier of residential real estate in this region,” Bouris said.

“They have an efficient pipeline of projects to provide a constant supply of apartments and commercial opportunities to the market. They’re delivering beautifully designed precincts and helping to create communities with public as well as private spaces and are committed to Canberra’s future.

“Basically, when you invest you need to be with someone with strength like Geocon, someone who has lots of flow, who understands the marketplace and is always innovating.”
