One of Sydney’s historic art deco buildings is set to be transformed into a striking residential development known as the
Powerhouse Apartments in Sydney's inner south eastern suburb of Rosebery.
Built around 1935, the site was originally occupied by the British General Electric Company (GE) and was home to one of the largest transformer manufacturing facilities in the southern hemisphere.
Developed by
Linear Property Group in joint venture with
Abacus Property Group and designed by JPR Architects, the heritage-listed brick warehouse façade has been retained with many of the building’s industrial scaled spaces preserved.
A number of the buildings also sit within the original steel framework of the site.
A unique industrial statement is made through the use of the original gantry beams within the landscaped pedestrian street.
The 138 apartments are located across five buildings of up to eight storeys and feature a range of single and double-storey apartments and townhouses.
Apartments feature American Oak strip flooring, modern polyurethane kitchens, designer bathrooms and oversized alfresco entertaining areas. Higher level apartments have views of the city skyline or Botany Bay.
Apartments located in the northern building feature courtyards or balconies which overlook a dramatic landscaped ‘green wall’.
At street level, one bedroom apartments feature soaring ceilings, an additional large multi-purpose room, panelled plywood floors, exposed concrete ceilings and moveable cupboards, providing creative and exciting living spaces.
Located at 144 Dunning Avenue, Rosebery, Powerhouse Apartments is within walking distance of Green Square station and minutes from Erkskinville and Newtown’s cafes, restaurants and village atmosphere.
Construction has commenced with completion scheduled for early 2013.
CBRE Residential Projects is marketing one bedroom apartments start from $465,000 and two bedroom apartments start at $699,000. Only 6 apartments remain for sale.
