Plans have been approved for a Lane Cove industrial precinct that “aims to set the tone and standards for new industrial development” within an established estate.
Private developer Eton Huang brought in Architex to design the large contemporary light industrial complex at 67 Mars Road that has a capital investment value of $46 million.
Unanimously approved by the Sydney North Planning Panel, the project will deliver a single large industrial building accommodating 19 industrial units with a total GFA of 7520 square metres.
Currently on the site is an ageing industrial building, which will be replaced by the two-level complex. The future use of each industrial unit is subject to a subsequent applications.
Forty-four self storage units of 1710sq m and 244 car parking spaces over three basement levels were also included in the approved application.
Lane Cove Council said that the development would deliver modern, high-quality warehouse and self-storage space to the area, as well as providing a “significant” contribution to the Lane Cove Industrial Precinct.
The development site is near Blackman Park and there is a bus stop outside the site on Sirius Road.
Lane Cove is better known for its office and residential developments rather than industrial.
Recent projects for the suburb include plans launched by Evergreen earlier this year for a trio of towers which would deliver 232 apartments, while last year plans for a 13-storey, $41-million tower was filed with Lane Cove Council by Dan Family Investments.
