Five Towers Planned for NSW Seaside Village

Plans for five residential towers, each of five storeys, have been revealed for Lake Cathie on the New South Wales’ Mid-North Coast.

The towers are planned for a 5510sq m site on Whitewater Terrace, Catarina Estate, part of a substantial masterplan development to the south of the village.

Lake Cathie, which has a population in 2021 of 4290 people, is 12km south of Port Macquarie and 375km north of Sydney.

The plans were lodged with the Port Macquarie Hastings Council late last month, according to BCI records.

Under the plans by ELK Designs for developer Catarina Village Pty Ltd, 99 apartments would be spread across the towers for a total of 8690sq m of residential space.

The development would also include 1240sq m of commercial space and 148 basement parking space across the five towers. Each tower will have bicycle storage.

Apartments, all of which would have balconies, would be a mix of one, two and three bedrooms, and the towers would have views to the south and east of the ocean, which is accessible by foot from the site.

The design statement said that at least 20 per cent of the apartments could incorporate the Silver Level universal design features of the Livable Housing Guidelines.

“The landscape area promotes social interaction among the residents and visitors as well as interaction with the local streetscape, it provides spaces that are public and private as well as connections through to the future developments of the site.”

The construction cost is listed as a little more than $20 million.

According to ASIC records, Damian Edward Obeid, from Concord in Sydney, is the director and secretary of Catarina Village, and Obeid Corporation Pty Ltd is listed as the ultimate holding company.
