Sydney's newest laneway retail precinct, Kensington Street, is set to officially open next month on the eastern boundary of the $2 billion masterplanned Central Park project in Chippendale.
Kensington Street by developers Greencliff sought out a number of tenancies including food, beverage and retailers last year to fill up this vibrant new corner of Sydney's downtown precinct.
Speaking with Domain, the developers reject claims that the trendy hub was inspired by Melbourne.
Greencliff Director Marcus Chang said, "I don't want to rubbish Melbourne.""But you go to a Melbourne laneway and it's more a dark back alley, with big commercial bins. Ours is nothing like that."
