CADRE Taps Builder for Luxury Byron Compound

Melbourne-based developer CADRE has tapped its construction arm Tycorp Construction to build a luxury residential compound at Paterson Street, Byron Bay.

The Davis Achitects-designed LUSSO project comprises six Palm Springs-inspired town homes with private plunge pools close to Byron Bay Central.

It is the group’s second project in the Northern Rivers region, and although the heat may have come out of the Byron Bay market somewhat, its median house price is $2.35 million.

Each of the six residences would feature mineral pools and tropical gardens by award-winning local landscape architecture firm LARC, which was also lauded for its work on the Marvel Hotel at Byron Bay.

CADRE director Christopher Tyas said the project focused on modern design and construction practices with a strong commitment to passive house principles.

Tyas’s brother, James, will spearhead construction on the Byron Bay project.

Christopher Tyas said they had tried to find a local contractor but it was challenging to find a head contractor with the capability and capacity to deliver on the vision for LUSSO.

“We searched for local contractors but found it exceptionally hard to obtain a principal contractor that sees our vision, quality and values set as a group,” Tyas said.

▲ Tyas Group is bringing its second Northern Rivers region project out of the ground with a Palm Springs-inspired aesthetic.

CADRE is the diversified development and investment pillar—its portfolio spanning large format retail, residential, commercial, industrial and mixed-use projects across Melbourne’s inner-east, Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, the Northern Rivers region of NSW and Tasmania.

The developer has another high-end townhouse development under way at Richmond in Melbourne.

And the Melbourne-based Tyas family this year put its foot on a 3.42ha site at Grafton in NSW’s Northern Rivers region for a $70-million retail centre.

The family office’s development arm, CADRE, will lead the development in the Clarence Valley after identifying a paucity of commercial space in the area.
