Brookfield Multiplex Tops Out Second Stage Of $222 Million Project

w

Brookfield Multiplex, a leading global contractor, today reached a significant construction milestone with the topping out of Stage 2 of the $222 million redevelopment of Stockland Wetherill Park Shopping Centre.

Located at 561-583 Polding Street, the centre is rapidly becoming one of Western Sydney’s biggest and most popular retail and lifestyle precincts.

Stage 2 features approximately 5,600 square metres of new retail space comprising a 800 seat indoor / outdoor food court with 14 food outlets, three mini-majors and 20 specialty shops. In addition, the stage creates a new basement level carpark and three rooftop levels of car parking, providing an additional 750 spaces. Stage 2 also comprises a new Coles supermarket, located within the existing centre.

“It’s fantastic to see the shopping centre continuing to evolve and take shape. The community has really embraced the work done to date and it is pleasing to note that visitor numbers have been increasing month on month since the opening of Stage One in March this year. We are now well on track to delivering the completed Stockland Wetherill Park in early 2016,” said Mr David Ghannoum, NSW Regional Managing Director at Brookfield Multiplex.

More than 10,000 cubic metres of concrete has been poured, 180 tonnes of stressing steel put in place and 1,350 tonnes of steel reinforcement used to reach the structure’s maximum height of 17 metres. To date, the project has involved over 560,000 work hours and a total workforce of more than 3,800 people.
