Amended Design Boosts Larrakeyah Apartment Count

RENDER of Darwin apartment building.

Amended plans seeking more serviced apartments and residential units have been put forward for a Darwin project.

The Northern Territory’s Development Consent Authority (DCA) originally approved the development for 110 apartments in 2015.

Amended plans filed this year would increase that to 119 serviced apartments and residential units but reduce the number of building from three to two.

The amended development application for 1-2 Montoro Court and 7-8 Packard Place, Larrakeyah, proposes 63 serviced apartments and 56 residential apartments across the two buildings of 10 and 11 storeys.

South-east to Darwin CBD, the site in Larrakeyah was home to the Asti Motel, which has been demolished.

According to documents, the site has a large excavation near the Smith Street and Montoro Court frontage where the Asti Motel was.

In 2019, an application for 70 units and 70 serviced apartments was filed

The current application was prepared through Cunnington Rosse on behalf of Joondanna Investments with plans by Troppo Architects.

The 10-storey building would have 56 residential apartments, while the 11-storey tower would comprise 63 serviced apartments in a mix of one, two and three bedrooms.
