R & F Properties Takes First Steps For Footscray Apartment Plans

1

Chinese real estate company R & F Properties is hoping to build one of Melbourne's largest apartment developments in Footscray.

According to Urban Melbourne, the company, via its Australian subsidiary R & F Estate Pty Ltd, has kick started a permit application for the redevelopment of the Kinnears Footscray site. Located at 124-188 Ballarat Road, the site was purchased for $60 million last year.

R & F Properties is seeking "limited demolition and adaptation of existing heritage buildings".

Urban Melbourne said, "while all new builds onsite will be subject to building specific future planning applications, the current request if approved in its current form will essentially act as a masterplan by way of determining what can and cannot be demolished."The developer has hired Elenberg Fraser to provide preliminary designs and imagery as part of the submission. Plans for the site include at least eight residential buildings, ranging in height from five levels to 18 levels.
