The UnitingCare healthcare portfolio has grown again as a 10-storey health precinct connected to The Wesley Hospital in Brisbane is approved.
The building with a pedestrian bridge near the main entrance of The Wesley at Auchenflower was greenlit via the state government’s Ministerial Infrastructure Designation pathway.
UnitingCare will anchor the precinct with a day surgery. There will also be radiology, radiation oncology bunkers, new specialist suites and a dedicated cancer care service as part of the precinct.
The four-storey podium design by Nettletontribe architects steps back into the 10-storey building that will replace an ageing three-storey block of flats.
There are also 200 carparking spaces in the basement of the building that will rise on the 3427sq m site at 25-27 Chasely and 6 Lima streets.
UnitingCare group executive—hospitals David Harper said the plan was to create Brisbane’s largest private comprehensive cancer centre.
“The new facility will support UnitingCare to deliver on its mission to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals, families and communities,” Harper said.
UnitingCare operates four not-for-profit private hospitals in Queensland: The Wesley Hospital, St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital, Buderim Private Hospital and St Stephen’s Hospital.
The new health facility is part of UnitingCare’s broader portfolio growth in healthcare services and builds on the recent opening of St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital Day Surgery Centre.
Brisbane-based property and development advisors Fluent are advising UnitingCare on the planning and delivery of The Wesley health precinct.
