Sarazin Returns to Brisbane’s Gabba with 447-Home Plan

The developer behind Woolloongabba’s Silk 1 project has returned to the precinct with plans for a significantly larger development—twin towers comprising 447 apartments next to the site of its 2022 completion.
Sarazin has lodged an application for the project with Economic Development Queensland for the site at Stanley and Trafalgar streets, Woolloongabba.
The designs by GroupGSA show a 53-level east tower and a 36-level west tower as part of the Stanley Quarter project within the Woolloongabba Priority Development Area.
According to the development application, the east tower would comprise 212 apartments across 45 storeys, in a mix of 158 two-bedroom units and 54 three-bedroom units.
If approved, the proposed 190.8m east tower would be one of the tallest developments proposed outside the Brisbane CBD.
A west tower would have 235 apartments over 33 storeys, including 200 two-bedroom units and 35 three-bedroom units.
There would be 2575sq m of office and commercial space above the podium levels and 488sq m of retail space on the ground level, spread across six tenancies.
Approval for a material change of use for multiple homes, shop, food and drink outlet, function facility, and community use is being sought.
The development would be delivered across two stages, with the west tower and shared infrastructure including flood-free access and portions of a public plaza constructed first.

Stage Two would comprise the east tower, completion of a cross-block pedestrian link, and delivery of the STEAMM Gallery and Garden.
The STEAMM Gallery would be a cultural and educational facility integrating science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics and music.
The project would include a 1160sq m pedestrian plaza connecting Stanley Street to Trafalgar Street.
The Stanley Quarter site was sold in 2023 for more than $20 million by Brisbane’s Wiley family, who had owned the 3419sq m corner allotment for more than 30 years.
The site is near The Gabba Stadium and the Cross River Rail Woolloongabba Station within Precinct 2—Logan Road under the Woolloongabba PDA Development Scheme.
Sarazin completed the neighbouring Silk 1 development in 2022, a 20-storey tower with 172 apartments overlooking the Gabba stadium.
