RLB in Victoria Announces Leadership Appointments

RLB Vic appointment spons hero

RLB Victoria managing director Tony Moleta has announced appointments for senior positions to the team.

Shelley Rogers and Brendan Young have been appointed as directors, and Edmond Hennessy as technical director (infrastructure).

RLB has also added three new associates in Victoria—David Van Der Staal, Kenny Ho-Fi and Stephen Peters.

‘We welcome Shelley and Brendan to the board of directors in Victoria and Edmond, David, Kenny and Stephen to their leadership positions,” Moleta said.

“We look forward to the continued growth and success of RLB in Victoria.”

“These individuals have worked effectively across a wide variety of sectors, and they have consistently made very valuable contributions to our clients' projects and to the Victorian practice.

“I look forward to continuing to build a joint vision for the future of RLB in Victoria with them.”

Shelley Rogers, director

Rogers’ appointment as director makes her the second female to join the board of directors at RLB in Victoria.

With more than 15 years’ industry experience, Rogers’ proactive and people-first approach has firmly established her as a respected advisor across her suite of clients. In addition to her strong cost planning proficiency on major projects, Rogers is also highly experienced across our advisory services.

Rogers began at RLB in Victoria in 2008 as an undergraduate and was appointed to the role of associate in 2017.

She has wide-ranging experience, with a particular focus on large-scale commercial projects such as Wesley Place, Collins Arch, Chadstone Commercial Precinct, and 140 Lonsdale Street.

Rogers is integral to RLB’s business operations, exemplified by her invaluable work on the design and delivery of the new ERP system.

She was also one of three founding members of the RLB Link initiative, which helps the younger generation of quantity surveyors at RLB form and strengthen their professional relationships.

“We are extremely excited to have Shelley join the board of directors in Victoria,” Moleta said.

“The board has been thoroughly impressed by Shelley’s leadership, her skills as a quantity surveyor, and ability to drive critical business outcomes in a collaborative way.”

Brendan Young, director

Young has more than 15 years’ experience across a range of sectors, specifically in major residential, retail, commercial and hospitality.

Some of his major projects include West Side Place, Chadstone Shopping Centre, Crown Metropol in Melbourne, Australian Ballet Centre, and the roll-out of ALDI stores across Victoria.

With exceptional attention to detail and a solution-focused attitude, Young is known for delivering workable solutions that meet client objectives and deliver the best possible project outcomes with the least amount of risk.

Young began his career at RLB in Victoria as an undergraduate in 2007 and was appointed associate in 2017.

With Rogers, Young was one of three founding members of the RLB Link initiative, aimed at developing and strengthening relationships across the younger generation.

“We look forward to working with Brendan on the board. He has delivered outstanding results during his time at RLB,” Moleta said.

“Brendan’s clear understanding of our clients and industry partners’ needs, coupled with his natural ability to mentor our future leaders, makes him the ideal person to compliment the executive team.”

Edmond Hennessy, technical director, infrastructure

As technical director, Hennessy will be responsible for the delivery of major projects and implementation of the infrastructure division’s strategic objectives.

Hennessy joined RLB in 2018, bringing with him more than 15 years’ experience working in quantity surveying firms, engineering consultancies and government agencies across the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia.

Over the course of his career, Hennessy has provided technical advisory services on a variety of high-profile transport projects, from the Suburban Roads Upgrade and the CityLink Tulla Widening, through to the Metro Tunnel, West Gate Bridge, Regional Rail Link and M80.

He specialises in both capex and opex budgeting, as well as delay analysis and project controls.

“Edmond is a highly regarded, strategic leader with deep industry experience. He has played a key role in delivering exceptional results in our infrastructure department in Victoria and his appointment as technical director is a well-deserved and exciting opportunity for Edmond to leverage his strengths,” Moleta said.

David van der Staal, associate

Van der Staal is a highly skilled and respected construction industry professional with more than 20 years of experience working with some of Australia’s major developers.

He specialises in contract administration and post-contract services working on significant projects such as Collins Arch, West Side Place, Queens Place, 555 Collins Street, Victoria Police Centre, Ravenhall Correctional Centre and Two Melbourne Quarter.

Van der Staal’s balanced approach has ensured successful project outcomes and earned respect and trust from his industry colleagues.

Beginning at RLB in Victoria as an undergraduate, van der Staal is often involved in the establishment and implementation of a variety of business initiatives including RLB’s market leading proprietary suite of software, the RLB Academy and more recently the design and delivery of the new ERP.

“David’s appointment brings a wealth of talent and experience that will complement the skillset that already sits within the associate team,” van der Staal.

“The board is particularly proud to have David join the leadership group and be recognised for his long-standing, loyal service to RLB.”

Kenny Ho-Fi, associate

Beginning with RLB in 2018 and with more than 10 years’ industry experience, Ho-Fi is a proven expert in the provision of cost planning and estimating services as well as tender management and contract administration.

Ho-Fi has an exceptional aptitude for analysis, combined with strong technical and construction methodology skills. This enables him to deliver comprehensive risk assessments and value management services.

Over the course of his career, Ho-Fi has worked across a variety of projects of varying complexities including Caulfield Village Precinct 3, CSL Banksia, NewQuay West, Public Housing Renewal Program, and Suburban Roads Upgrade. Kenny also has extensive experience in providing project and tender management services as well as superintendency.

“In less than four years since joining RLB, Kenny has quickly established himself as a key member of our senior team leading some of our most exemplar projects,” Moleta said.

“With Kenny’s leadership and collaborative approach to his work, our team of exceptional quantity surveyors will carry on the firm’s legacy of first-rate client service.”

Stephen Peters, associate

After starting with RLB only nine months ago, Peters has quickly demonstrated his advanced technical proficiency as well as ability to lead complex commissions.

With an exceptional eye for detail and ability to develop risk-based solutions for difficult matters, Peters brings a varied skillset to RLB assisting in further broadening our service offering to clients.

He specialises in the use of BIM technology, Monte Carlo simulations-risk modelling, and life-cycle costing.

He has more than 10 years expertise in both the pre- and post-contract phases, delivering this range of services on challenging projects across various sectors including infrastructure, defence, data centres and civic.

Peters has been involved on such high-profile projects as North EastLink, Sydney Metro City & South West, Melbourne Metro, Sydney Gateway, WestConnex 3B, Scienceworks, and Royal Botanic Gardens Nature Science Precinct.

Passionate about professional development, Peters is a Green Star Accredited Professional and is currently undertaking the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence.

“Stephen is an impressive individual quickly forging a positive impression in his short time thus far at RLB,” Moleta said.

“He brings a diverse skillset and versatility to the practice, and we look forward to Stephen not only leading projects for our clients but also his contributions to the management of our people and processes.”

“I am very pleased that we possess in our staff the talent and expertise needed to continue to develop the practice over the coming years.

“These appointments are a strong endorsement of the quality and abilities of our staff.”
