Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Oliver Nichols (pictured top, on left) as the Oceania Director of Research and Development.
With over 25 years of experience in quantity surveying—including 17 years in Sydney and six years at a director level—Oliver sits on the RLB NSW Board and has played a key role in delivering complex, high-value projects across a range of sectors.
Nichols’ core expertise lies in cost planning, financial reporting and post-contract cost management.
Nichols has successfully led teams and continues to foster strong collaboration between clients, consultants and contractors.
His portfolio includes major placemaking developments, such as the Sydney Football Stadium, Central Barangaroo and the Sydney Metro integrated station developments at Martin Place, Gadigal and Victoria Cross.
In his new role, Nichols will oversee the Oceania RLB research team, which is responsible for providing insights into the construction sector, at a state and national level, to all RLB Oceania offices together with producing the firm’s external research publications for both Australia and New Zealand.
These include cost commentary and market intelligence reports, the RLB Crane Index and the annual Riders Digest.
As RLB celebrates its 240th anniversary in 2025, we celebrate a milestone that embodies the firm’s enduring commitment to four core principles: truth, trust, together, and tomorrow.
While overseeing the output from the R&D team, Nichols will continue work on his key projects.
RLB Oceania chair Steve Gracey said: “Our long-established and trusted research program has played a vital role in shaping informed decision-making across the global property and construction sectors.
“It’s a legacy built on rigour, collaboration and the collective knowledge of our people—and I’m confident Oliver’s leadership will continue to elevate the impact of our R&D program in Oceania and beyond.”
