Construction of a greenfield estate south-west of Brisbane by listed developer Cedar Woods Properties has begun as interest in the affordability belt south of Brisbane continues to climb.
The developer has moved the launch of the next stage of the subdivision of 53 sites at South Maclean in the Logan growth corridor forward after the first stage sold out.
Cedar Woods acquired the 40.7ha site off Pebble Creek Way in 2021 for $12.5 million.
That stage, with $7.5-million in sales, at Cedar Wood’s planned 511-lot Flourish estate, includes 51 homesites.
Site works are under way and construction is expected to start on the first homes by the end of the year.
About 14.5ha—more than a third—of the estate will be dedicated to an ecological corridor with Flagstone Creek running through it and a recreational park, walking and cycling paths.
Cedar Woods development director Blair Britton said buyers at the estate were mainly local families who were drawn to the estate masterplan’s “strong emphasis on green space”.
“South Maclean is becoming a real south-east hotspot thanks to its affordability and the increasing amenity on offer, which is expanding year-on-year,” Britton said.
“There is a major upgrade of Logan Public Hospital under way and due for completion later this year, while stage two is forecast to be finished in 2026, taking total public investment in the hospital to more than $1 billion, as the region continues to grow.”
South Macleans is 48km south of the Brisbane CBD and 12.5km west of Logan.
Flourish is Cedar Woods’ fourth masterplanned estate in Queensland following Ellendale in Upper Kedron, Sage in Burpengary, and Greville in Wooloowin.
