
The Victorian planning minister has approved plans for a 32-storey tower in Melbourne’s heart four years after the controversial highrise was first mooted.
The tower planned for 1 Spring Street will connect to the heritage-listed Shell House designed by Australian architecture luminary Harry Seidler.
Penelope Seidler—Seidler’s widow, architect and professional partner at Harry Seidler and Associates told The Urban Developer in a statement she endorsed the approval.
“The proposal to redevelop the Flinders Lane end of the 1 Spring Street site as a complementary commercial tower is of significant benefit to the Shell House tower,” Seidler said.
