Mercedes-Benz ‘City Within City’ Unveiled for Dubai

A Mercedes-Benz branded masterplanned community and a whole section of Dubai Creek are opening up as the United Arab Emirates city enters its next property development phase.

A Mercedes-Benz-branded masterplanned community and a new neighbourhood on Dubai Creek are in the pipeline for the United Arab Emirates city as it enters its next development phase.

The two major project announcements came after a record year for residential sales in the city that netted $222.6 billion, up 28 per cent for the year across 203,000 transactions.

Developer Binghatti Properties has partnered with the luxury German car company for a $12.2-billion “city within a city” on a 92ha site at Nad Al Sheba, 20 minutes south-east of the Burj Khalifa.

It would be Binghatti’s first masterplanned community and is expected to comprise 12 towers including the Vision Iconic anchor highrise.

To be built in three stages, each tower would be named after a concept car while the interiors will reflect Mercedes-Benz vehicles with black, silver, leather and timber features.

Mercedes-Benz Group AG board member Mathias Geisen said it was a blueprint for how the future of branded living in Dubai would be defined.

“This masterplan represents the purest expression of the brand’s design philosophy, extending our DNA from the automobile into a living environment crafted with technical precision,” Geisen said.

Geisen said it would be a world built beyond tomorrow, where mobility, architecture, technology and design functioned as one.

Meanwhile, Dubai Holding Real Estate has unveiled its residential masterplan for a 167ha site between Downtown Dubai and Dubai Creek known as d3, inland from Jumeirah.

Developer Meraas plans to deliver the five districts of the community starting with the waterfront promenade and central shaded spine to enhance walkability.

Residential buildings would line the creek, supported by the urban core for retail and dining, cultural heart, wellness zone and creative districts.

Meraas’ residential release in d3 called Atelis, a 280-unit waterfront tower, rapidly sold out and The Edit, a three-tower development with 557 homes was also well received by the market.

Dubai Holding Real Estate chief executive Khalid Al Malik said it was part of advancing the city’s economic agenda and attracting the world’s creative community.

“This development strengthens Dubai Design District’s position as a global benchmark for design-focused urban living and reaffirms Dubai’s status as a destination of choice for long-term investment, talent and innovation,” Al Malik said.
