Melbourne Quarry-to-Homes Transformation Clears Hurdle

Peddle Thorp Architects render of part of the Norvel Estate planned for the former Norvel Quarry in Victoria's Ferntree Gully.

Plans to transform a former quarry west of the Melbourne CBD into a residential masterplan are moving ahead.

The Knox City Council has voted to support Amendment C194 to the Knox Planning Scheme to allow for land at 29Q Norvel Road and adjacent lots at 54 Agora Boulevard and 59R Rankin Road at Ferntree Gully to be rezoned from special use to residential use.

The 9.2ha site at 29Q Norvel Road is the former Norvel Road Quarry and was used for clay extraction for bricks made from 1955 to 2009.
