Johnson Property Group has won approval for its $600-million Trinity Point development at Lake Macquarie.
Starchitect Koichi Takada designed the masterplanned premium resort which will comprise 180 apartments, a 218-key hotel, function centre, serviced apartments and two 300-seat restaurants.
Residents and guests will also have access to a state-of-the-art five-star marina and helipad on the 3.8ha site in the Hunter Valley, 130km north of Sydney.
Johnson Property Group managing director Keith Johnson said the 188-berth marina would be a major drawcard and unmatched in NSW.
“Trinity Point isn’t merely a development; it’s a world-class resort development, including a marina that will also attract tourism from around the world because there is nothing else like it in Australia,” Johnson said.
Architect Koichi Takada said the design took inspiration from the “rolling Watagan Mountains” in the Hunter hinterland, with fluid sculptural forms and green roofs.
“Our design concept aims for harmonious interaction with nature,” Takada said. “Our design aims to be in harmony with nature while caring for it.”
Rainwater harvesting and solar arrays will be employed to boost sustainability of the development, while much of the land will be publicly accessible with trails and pedestrian footpaths across the waterfront site.
Construction is slated for 2025 after approval was granted through a state significant development application.
Johnson Property has held the land for more than two decades.
