The sleeping dragon of urban renewal has awakened in Sydney’s Chinatown with a new hotel proposal the latest of a rising number of plans for the precinct on the southern edge of the CBD.
Malaysian-based property and hospitality giant Mulpha has revealed a proposal for a $60-million, 18-storey hotel with 279 rooms in the vibrant inner-city hub of Haymarket.
It is earmarked for a 718sq m infill site occupied by two century-old former warehouse buildings at 355-357 Sussex Street.
