Grocon's Swanston Square mixed-use project marches on

In an attempt to create an illustrious mix of commercial, residential and retail space, acclaimed property developer

Grocon has spawned yet another inner-city precinct on Swanston Street in the heart of Melbourne’s city centre.

Aptly named

Swanston Square, the development will boast a combined residential and office tower with an accompanying retail and dining ‘square’ on the ground level.

The

ARM Architecture-designed mixed-use development is set to offer premium quality residential apartments and office space, of which will be constructed on the former Carlton Brewery site at the northern end of Swanston Street.

Exclusive to Swanston Square residents, and sure to be the project’s most impressive accessory, is the planned Sky Deck, which will boast a cinema, spas, barbeque facilities and lounge area.

Paying homage to the famous Melbourne laneways, the project will create several new laneways and a covered Winter Garden so as to mimic and preserve the distinctive urban-Melbourne experience.

Unlike any other office precinct in the city, Swanston Square also pays homage to Australia’s history with its planned image of aboriginal elder William Barak (1824-1903) on the building’s facade, so as to honour the unique heritage of Melbourne city.

The northern side of the building will boast views of Carlton, while the west side will boast views of the city’s shipping ports and beyond.

Construction on the project commenced in July this year, and is scheduled for completion in 2014.

The display village is now open for those keen to experience vibrant inner-city living, with 1 bedroom apartments starting from $365,500 and 2 bedroom apartments from $485,000.
