Crystalbrook Collection Moves into Adelaide Market

Crystalbrook Sam Adelaide HERO

Sustainable hospitality and tourism operator Crystalbrook Collection has been appointed to manage a luxury hotel in South Australia.

Owned by Adelaide-based property developers Samaras Group, the development would be named Crystalbrook Sam—becoming the eighth hotel in Crystalbrook’s Australian collection.

The 200-key hotel will be located at 15 Halifax Street, right in the heart of Adelaide CBD with construction slated to begin at the end of 2024 and completed in 2026.

Spanning 13 levels, the hotel would include a wellness centre, a rooftop with a spa and bathhouse, and food and drink options.

Geoff York, chief executive for Crystalbrook Collection said venturing into the Adelaide market was a strategic play to expand their footprint into a fast-growing tourism hotpsot.

“Total visitor expenditure in Adelaide was $5.3 billion in the year ending June 2023, marking a robust growth rate of seven per cent,” York said.

“By 2025, international tourism levels are predicted to recover post pandemic making it the perfect time to launch a new hotel.” York said.

The partnership between Crystalbrook Collection and Samaras Group to deliver the flagship hotel would be an asset “fostered for generations to come”, according to managing director of Samaras Group Chris Samaras.

Crystalbrook Collection has invested in excess of $1 billion in Australia where 2000 rooms are currently under management with hotels in Cairns, Port Douglas, Byron Bay, Brisbane, Sydney and Newcastle.

Crystalbrook Byron has a range of sustainability measures in place, including the use of 100 per cent recycled wooden room keys, three in-house honeybee colonies, with fresh honey served daily and 80 per cent of produce sourced locally.

Crystalbrook Byron sits within a luxury landscape home to their own honeybees.

The offerings fall under the brands ‘Responsible Luxury’ category, operating under a single-use plastic free environment—down to the coat hangers and toothbrushes being made from recycled materials.

Crystalbrook Collection is owned by Ghassan Aboud Group owned by international entrepreneur and philanthropist Ghassan Aboud.

Samaras Group focuses on property development, investment, heavy engineering, manufacturing and creating new opportunities for entrepreneurs.
