Comiskey Group has secured approval for an $180-million mixed-use development at North Lakes anchored by a 144-key five-star hotel and a 2000sq m hospitality venue.

The 25,000sq m North Lakes Town Centre will rise on a 1.72ha site in the Moreton Bay suburb, about 35km north of Brisbane CBD.

It will combine accommodation, dining, retail, wellness, entertainment and landscaped public spaces.

The nine-storey hotel will form the centrepiece of the development, which the Queensland-based group plans to position as a destination for visitors and residents throughout the day and evening.

Comiskey Group director Rob Comiskey said the developer saw the scheme as “something genuinely different for North Lakes and for Moreton Bay”.

“There isn’t currently a destination of this scale or this calibre in the area bringing all of these experiences together,” he said.

“We’ve deliberately moved away from the traditional shopping centre model.

“This is about creating somewhere people actually want to spend time, whether that’s staying in the hotel, going out for dinner, meeting friends, enjoying entertainment, exercising or simply spending time in the public spaces.”

The developer was awarded the tender to develop the site by the City of Moreton Bay in September of last year.

Designed by Bureau Proberts, the project will include a central landscaped public space, with indoor and outdoor areas intended to support activity across the precinct.

Construction is scheduled to start in early 2027, with consultants engaged and detailed design work under way.

Comiskey Group is also seeking tenants for the development, with leasing opportunities open to retail, dining, wellness, entertainment and commercial operators.

The project adds to the proposed hotel and hospitality offering in the City of Moreton Bay, which has attracted investment interest as the region grows.

Moreton Bay mayor Peter Flannery said the approval was a milestone for North Lakes and would expand the area's accommodation, dining and entertainment options.
