Plans Filed for 10-Storey Hotel in Sydney’s Mascot

Bayside hotel EDM

A 10-storey hotel plan at Mascot has gone to the Sydney Eastern City Planning Panel for consideration.

The integrated development application proposes the construction of an 84-key hotel with three levels of basement parking plus food and drink premises.

Boston Atlas Hotels submitted plans to develop the site at 125-131 Baxter Road to the Bayside Council and the major panels as it has a $42-million capital investment value.

The food and drink offering would be on the roof to take advantage of “significant views and vistas” of Sydney Airport and Botany Bay.

The site is just south of the Mascot Town Centre precinct beside the O’Riordan Street commercial corridor.

The design by Rothelowman seeks to “mediate between the forms and setbacks of the adjacent developments”.

The building would sit next to another approved $130-million hotel, announced in 2021, also by Boston Atlas Hotels.

That approved 224-room neighbouring hotel at 210 O’Riordan Street is a venture by Boston Atlas Hotels.

These two sites are among a slew of hotels in the area due to its proximity to Sydney Airport, including the 301-room Moxy Hotel by Marriott, which is across the road.

There has been considerable movement in the hotels space in Sydney in the past year with new developments planned by Minor Hotels’ NH Hotel and two Sydney hotels changed hands for $109 million in November.
