Bathla Plots Commercial for Residential Swap at Canterbury

The commercial component of an approved mixed-use project in Melbourne’s east would be dropped in favour of more homes under an amendment now before a Victorian tribunal.
Bathla Group has filed the application to amend the Canterbury development permit almost a year after the site changed hands through a distressed sale.
The developer has applied directly to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal to amend the planning permit for the 1984sq m Commercial 1 Zone site at 1-13 Shierlaw Avenue, seeking to replace street-facing ground-floor commercial tenancies with residential apartments and a small co-working space.
