The world's top 12 developments recognised by Urban Land Institute

The world's top real estate developments have been recognised in the United States by the

Urban Land Institute's 35th annual Global Awards for Excellence competition.


The program is aimed at identifying best practices in all types of real estate development, focusing on a high standard of excellence in design, construction, economics, planning and management.


A list of the 12 winners is below:
 
21c Museum Hotel Cincinnati - Located in Cincinnati, Ohio, U.S.A, this luxury hotel designed by 

Deborah Berke Partners has transformed a 100-year-old historic landmark into a collaboration of a lavish hotel and art exhibition space.



 
Altmarkt-Galeri Dresden - Developed by 

ECE Projektmanagement GmbH who are highly regarded for their European inner city shopping centres, Altmarkt-Galeri in Dresden, Germany is a large-scale commercial development integrated in the historic city fabric.



 
Amazon.com Global Headquarters - This multi building office complex developed by 

Vulcan Inc and located in Seattle, Washington, U.S.A is commended for its seamless blending into an emerging neighbourhood.



 
D-Cube City - D-Cube City is a public space that effectively incorporates urban renewal, mix-use and transit-oriented development. The project was developed by 

Daesung Industrial Co and designed by 

The Jerde Partnership, this public district is located in Seoul, South Korea.


 



 
HafenCity Hamburg (New Downtown City district) - Developers HafenCity Hamburd GmbH and designers 

ASTOC and 

EMBT are collaborating to put into effect the master plan of a new downtown area that will expand the inner city of Hamburg towards the river Elbe.



 
Hysan Place - In Hong Kong, developers 

Hysan Development Company Limited have introduced a sustainable office space within a shopping district that aims at enhancing productivity. They have collaborated with designers 

Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates.



 
Midtown Detroit - 

Midtown Detroit, Inc. has taken a new approach to the renewal of the inner city district in Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A.



 
Roosevelt University Student Living - Student spaces, classrooms and administrative offices are the focus of this new campus development by 

John Buck Company and designed by 

VOA Associates Inc. in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A.



 
Station Center - A new project that is mixed-use, transit-orientated and located in the city center of Union City, California is targeted at mixed-income residents. The development by 

MidPen Housing Corp has been designed by 

David Baker + Partners.



 
Territoria 3000 - 

Territoria developers are responsible for a complex land assembly that generates an iconic mixed-use block in Santiago de Chile, Chile.



 
UC Davis West Village - Developers 

West Village Community Partnership and LLC have come together to create a mixed-used neighbourhood in Davis, California that is a zero net energy community. 

Studio E Architects designed the area.


 



 
Via Verde – The Green Way - Affordable and sustainable housing has been developed in New York, New York by a collaboration of 

Phipps Houses and 

Jonathan Rose Companies. The project was designed by 

Dattner Architects & Grimshaw.
