Major construction works are complete on the Western Sydney International Airport, the first of its kind in Australia in more than 50 years.
Billed as a “24-hour international gateway”, the airport will handle up to 10 million passengers a year when its terminal doors open in 2026.
For Multiplex construction manager Manos Sartzetakis it’s a “once-in-a-lifetime” project.
The Urban Developer went behind the scenes with Multiplex to examine the technology, construction innovation and collaboration behind Australia’s newest airport.
While work continues on the surrounding Aerotropolis and the Western Sydney Airport Metro connection, the terminal itself is being celebrated for its sustainable design.
It features more than 6000 solar panels and rainfall capture and recycling systems.
