Byron Bay’s Sunseeker owners want to expand the motel after it failed to sell as conditions slow in the pandemic property hotspot.

Property records show owners Jess and Dave Frid picked up the Sunseeker in 2019 for $6 million and decided to list it in early 2024. There were no successful bidders.

The Frids now want to add 14 units to the property that comprises 41 motel suites, nine tourist cabins and a home, filing an application with the Byron Shire Council.
