Dusk Group has signed up AKAM Constructions to build its highend 36-apartment development on the Sunshine Coast.
Brisbane-based AKAM Constructions specialised in large-format residential and commercial construction, and had nearly two decades of experience across multiple project types, including multi-residential developments, industrial builds and commercial spaces, the company said.
The project at Caloundra, 93km north of the Brisbane CBD by road, is Sunset Caloundra at 5-7 Bombala Terrace.
It comprises one and two-bedroom apartments as well as two three-bedroom penthouses with multi-purpose rooms.
Amber Werchon Property and Town Property are jointly marketing the project, which has attracted expressions of interest since its launch last week, indicating strong demand for the sub-$1-million coastal apartment segment, Dusk said.
MAS Architecture Studio designed the project. Lead architect Nick Symonds said the design reflected local coastal elements, with “curved balconies, earthy textures, and expansive glass” to maximise indoor-outdoor connectivity.
Dusk Group director Anthony Short said the project was targeting quality design at a “price point rarely seen for new coastal developments”.
The site has pedestrian access to Kings and Bulcock beaches and is near retail and hospitality venues.
Construction is scheduled to begin in the middle of this year.
The Sunset Caloundra project is entering a strengthening market—Caloundra’s median unit price rose 16.6 per cent to $755,000 during the past 12 months.
Development activity in the area includes an 11-storey, 179-unit proposal by GVG Equity for nearby Bulcock Street and a 77-key Marriott hotel planned for the Esplanade.
The hotel proposal highlights projected accommodation shortfalls ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympics. The Sunshine Coast Council is preparing planning instruments to encourage new hotel developments.
