Brisbane-based property developer Spyre Group has lodged a development application to create a landmark project located in the heart of Broadbeach on the Gold Coast.
The proposal includes 89 beach view apartments and a host of private residential facilities on a site the developers acquired in May for $6.35 million.
Located at 185 Old Burleigh Road, the project’s design looks to provide a gross floor area upwards of 13,000 square metres spread over 30-storeys of high-end residential form.
The project’s design team, headed by ML Design, sought to create a project that suited the small site while still offering a luxury lifestyle to a select number of residents.
According to the DA, Spyre Group’s project was designed to ensure all apartments offered panoramic beach views with light-filled interiors through extensive glazing.
“We are always looking for a point of difference – something that will make a Spyre Group property stand against time as a unique opportunity – what we are planning for Broadbeach is no different,” Spyre Group Director Andrew Malouf said.
The development’s proposed location is the last residential site, 400 metres from the Gold Coast’s Star Hotel & Casino and Pacific Fair – both of which have had recent major project upgrades and redevelopment at a combined cost of over $1 billion.
The DA said the project design was focused on intelligent space planning, with the project architects blending building beauty with a highly efficient and user-friendly floor plan. The building is only 13 metres wide.
“Our goal was to create a striking new architectural benchmark for boutique residential developments on the Gold Coast,” ML Design Director Kent Pinel said.
“We were encouraged to develop on a small parcel, where design and intricacy are key.
“The proposal submitted to the Gold Coast City Council reflects a built form which we are extremely happy with,” he said.
Spyre Group are expecting a positive outcome for their application from the Gold Coast City Council.
