Ovation Quarter Launches Priority Growth In Property Market Sydney

In March 2017 a new development made an announcement that could potentially excite the property market in Sydney. Ovation Quarter, located at Sydney’s largest residential development on the doorstep of Sydney Olympic Park, released its first stage of apartments which consists of 170 luxurious, efficient and well-sized one, two and three-bedroom apartments.

The development is by Australia YMCI (AYMCI) – a subsidiary of international developer YMCI, highly credentialed experts in delivering major urban and environmental projects including significant infrastructure, commercial, retail and residential developments.

In total, Ovation Quarter consists of approximately 3,000 architecturally designed, luxury apartments in a property market Sydney considers to be amenity-rich. The project has been considered to be an important piece of the significant urban regeneration of Sydney Olympic Park and its surrounds, which has been regarded by the NSW State Government as a priority growth precinct.

Once complete, Ovation Quarter will become a bustling new precinct for Sydney, where AYMCI is to provide land for a new public primary school, delivery of parks for use by the wider community, a high street and town centre with an abundance of restaurants, cafes and retail.

AYMCI CEO Mark Ma said Ovation Quarter would capitalise on the growth earmarked for the local area.

AYMCI has partnered with a team of Australian residential property experts including leading architects Kann Finch, interior designers Urbanite, landscape architect Environmental Partnership, and built environment brand and marketing experts Frost Creative, to deliver a new standard of contemporary Australian living at the precinct.

Development action in Ovation Quarter’s surrounding area

Due to Ovation Quarter’s proximity to theSydney Olympic Park precinct, it is expected to be at the forefront of a lot of development action in the years to follow.

In 2010 the New South Wales adopted the ‘Master Plan 2030’, which is a “blueprint for the sustainable development of Sydney Olympic Park into a vibrant suburb in the heart of Sydney”. The purpose of the plan was to establish design and planning principles and set controls for the future development of Sydney Olympic Park’s Town Centre. It was also designed to:

  • Enable the future development of Sydney Olympic Park for the people of NSW
  • Facilitate Sydney Olympic Park’s evolution into an active, vibrant town within metropolitan Sydney
  • Protect Sydney Olympic Park’s role as the premier destination for cultural, entertainment, recreation and sporting events
  • Protect and enhance the public domain and the parklands
  • Provide detailed planning and design principles and controls for development that responds to its context and contributes to the quality of the built environment, future character and cultural significance of the Park.

The Master Plan recently went through a review so that it remains current, and according to the NSW Government so it remains “relevant to the changing urban landscape in and around Sydney Olympic Park as well as the broader Sydney metropolitan area.

While Ovation Quarter is being released into the property market in Sydney, the Sydney Olympic Park precinct is being directed by the Master Plan to:

  • Provide for 10,700 homes to take advantage of the considerable amenity at Sydney Olympic Park
  • Create opportunities for 34,000 jobs close to the transport hub of Sydney Olympic Park
  • Increase retail space to 100,000m2 to service the growing community on the Olympic peninsula, including Wentworth Point and Newington, and the future Carter Street community
  • Deliver more new streets to improve access to future retail areas, create more opportunities for active street fronts and more capacity to separate day-to-day traffic from event traffic
    • Widen roads to provide for future light rail corridor
  • Increase the non-car commuting target to 40% encouraging use of public transport, walking and cycling
    • Create more local parks to provide for the growing community, including 3 new parks and upgrades to 5 existing parks
  • Provide new buildings to create a vibrant entertainment hub to support Sydney Olympic Park’s major venues – ANZ Stadium, Qudos Bank Arena and Sydney Showground, and complement its existing sports capability
  • Identify potential sites for primary and secondary school education
  • Amend the Local Infrastructure Contributions Fund to provide for new streets and more local parks.

The review of Master Plan 2030 focussed on three of the nine Town Centre precincts: Stadia, Central and Parkview, with further development throughout Sydney Olympic Park focussed around transport corridors and infrastructure.
