Cedar Woods Properties is shovels at the ready for Stage One works of their $400 million Glenside development, following approval from the South Australian Development Assessment Commission.
“The Glenside project will see the transformation of the 16-hectare site into a master planned community with 1,000 new dwellings,” Cedar Woods State Manager Patrick Archer said.
The Glenside project is located 2.6 kilometres south-east of the Adelaide CBD, at the corner of Fullarton and Greenhill Roads, adjoining the Adelaide Parklands.
The project will incorporate a blend of townhouses and apartments set amongst historic buildings in a natural parkland setting. The master planned community will integrate high quality public spaces and is well serviced by transport, retail and other amenities.
“We are pleased to see the Glenside development moving ahead after careful planning and community consultation over the last 18 months in partnership with Renewal SA,” Mr Archer said.
“We’ve already received a strong response from potential buyers and future residents attracted by Glenside’s premium location and close proximity to local amenities, parklands and the city.”
Further site preparation works will be aligned to the staged delivery of the project.
Stage one site preparation works will involve the removal of selected trees including weed species, non-indigenous and planted indigenous varieties, demolition of non-heritage listed buildings and soil remediation.
Future planned works include planting 400 new trees throughout the site, construction of stormwater management infrastructure and the restoration of heritage buildings as part of broader plans for the development.
Cedar Woods will be engaging South Australian-based contractors to undertake the initial site works. When the project is fully up and running it is expected to create around 450 construction related jobs and 1,850 jobs across the wider economy.
Cedar Woods is planning to release the first stage of the project for sale later this year.
